Serpent Mounds In-Person
Serpent Mound is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the country, but this unique indigenous earthwork is also one of the most misunderstood. In this program, we’ll learn about who built Serpent Mound, for what purposes, and how it relates to other famous earthworks in Ohio. We’ll discuss some of the common myths and misconceptions about the earthwork. We’ll learn about the larger story of American Indians in Ohio and how the legacy of removal continues to influence perceptions about Serpent Mound to the present day.
