The Birth of the Space Age In-Person

Humanity has always looked toward the Heavens and dreamed about exploring the vastness of space. Today, those dreams have become part of our reality. The Space Age began on October 4, 1957, when the world was transfixed by a “beep, beep, beep” from the sky. The launch of Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union spawned a Cold War competition that took us to the Moon. Beginning with the Mercury and Gemini Programs and their Soviet counterparts, this program highlights the birth of Humanity’s greatest adventure, and the key roles played by Cleveland in shaping NASA and getting the United States to the Moon.
